This two-bedroom former Mill overlooks the river Thames in Sonning and was originally conceived as a second home for its clients, plus a gallery space for furniture brand Another Country. The brief was to renovate the space simply, incurring little waste and architectural intervention. For instance, the kitchen was upgraded with new paint, unit handles, a new worktop and floor tiles.
The design epitomises a glitzed-up, Country-Modern aesthetic with smart wood furniture, some neon lacquer, layers of luxurious velvet, cord and linen, and a feeling of curated chaos from the clashing prints. The latter is followed through to accessories, including Palefire lighting and Dominic J McHenry art works.
One-off furniture crafted especially for this project by Another Country, is mixed in with rare antique finds.
